Char Jeré is an Afro-fractalist whose work focuses on non-linear time created within the African diaspora. Their work is centered on the relationship between race and technology in antiquity and throughout modernity. ‘The Periodic Table of Black Revolutionaries' was started while working at the Brooklyn Public Library as a method of teaching youth about the elemental Black, mostly women-identified, figures throughout history. ‘The Periodic Table of Black Revolutionaries’ is a poem of appreciation to Black women, trans and queer people for leading the way. The table disrupts the eurocentric system by replacing, for instance, rare earth metals with astronomical Black people. It's not only a guide of our extraordinary Black history but a meditation on the Universe.

Char Jeré lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. They received their MS in Data Analytics and Visualization from Pratt Institute and are currently working on their MFA in Sound Art from Columbia University. Char is a multidisciplinary artist who has played shows in Switzerland, Germany, England and the United States. Char first exhibited ‘The Periodic Table of Black Revolutionaries’ in 2020 at the Westbeth Gallery while attending a residency at the School For Poetic Computation.
