Gerard and I first met in Omaha nearly 10 years ago through our mutual friend, Dan Crane. Back then, Gerard was one of the most prolific painters I knew painting elephants as his signature on every surface imaginable, even the Williamsburg bridge. His gestural techniques really brought his works to life while his beaming smile and Cameroonian accent were the icing on the cake to his colorful personality. Upon hearing that he moved to Brooklyn and had an interest in screenprinting I insisted on partnering with him on his first edition. Having an understanding of his style, I instructed him to do what he does best, play with color and drizzle ink on the screen as I printed the first layer. The second key layer ties it all together while the final gold touch was drawn on acetate and sized to fit.
