Fine Art Editions
Du-Good Press was established in spring 2017 to offer a collaborative and fresh approach to screen printing across the arts. Focusing on a new wave of rising contemporary artists across multiple platforms, Du-Good Press offers hand screen-printed fine art editions of emerging and mid-career artists. Artists are selected by Du-Good Press’ intimate team of advisors, curators and founder and master-printer, Leslie Diuguid.
People often take on the characteristics of what their last names imply. I come from a long line of education-obsessed relentless self-starters. The name, Du-Good comes from a phonetic spelling of my last name, Diuguid. Created initially by my grandfather, Lincoln Isaiah Diuguid, for his business Du-Good Chemical Laboratories & Manufacturers, the name came to represent the first black owned laboratory west of the Mississippi in the 1940s. My father, Lewis Diuguid, relays this story in perfect journalistic detail as an award winning writer, most recently of the book, Our Fathers: Making Black Men about his father. For the last three generations; and enlivened with my own ambitions, Du-Good continues to represent discipline, perfection, and sharing across communities. I have gained a personal preference for valuing perfection in craftsmanship and enjoy upholding high standards in the field of printmaking.
